The Brit-Jodi Ellen Malpas

My Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

"'How was your date?' [...] 'I had murder for appetizer'"

This is another classic JEM masterpiece, written this time about Alpha Male Danny Black who is a British gangster. Rose is a prostitute/whore who keeps a graveyard of secrets. She and Danny meet as collateral when Rose's lover crosses Danny and owes him a large lumpsum of money.

The harder they try to avoid the simmering chemistry between the two. the harder it becomes and all bets are off when chemistry gets in the way and Danny wants a taste of the forbidden hostage.

Danny is a softer version of Jesse, not as smoldering and intense, but charismatic, cunning and witty which makes up for it. It feels like Danny could be the younger brother to Jesse.

JEM specializes in Alpha Male Romance, but this didn't hit the mark like the This Man series did for me. I still love her writing and enjoyed the book, it just wasn't one that I would say is her best development of a new alpha male character.

The ending shocked me but then became predictable within the last few pages, but for the majority I didn't predict this one and even noted that in my kindle after a day of processing what exactly happened in that ending.

Can't wait for you all to see my other reviews for JEM and read her future works.
