JLA, who doesn’t love a good Jennifer L. Armentrout novel? Fun fact, my first novel series I ever read by her was the Lux Series, which is still very much to this day a guilty pleasure that I read when I miss Daemon and his attitude. But for this novel, Armentrout took a different direction from what I am used to.
This story brings forward a girl named Mallory who growing up was faced with a story of survival in a foster home with Rider Stark and their struggle to survive not only together, but the unknowns of being a foster kid but the poor treatment and neglect they were both exposed to while living in the same home. Later escaping that situation and being torn apart from Rider, never to be seen again or so she thought, Through the new foundation of her life, Mallory (Mouse) is enrolled into public school much to help her gain interaction with peers and a new normal life.
Mallory's plans are thrown on a tilt, when she comes face to face with someone she never expected to see again-Rider. After all the years of therapy and distance between them everything from the past comes forward again. Will being face to face with her past bring these feelings bring back in a negative way or will Rider help Mallory heal and move on from what built her walls so high allowing her to speak again?
Don’t bother to guard your heart with this book as these two will be sure to steal it in both good ways and bad. Another great novel written by Jennifer L. Armentrout, and be sure to check out her others too!
